![]() ![]() Nonetheless, I personally would prefer if strength rocks and rock smash rocks as well as cut trees would be moved or removed permanently, at least after beating the story part of the game. The difference between regular areas and the gyms is that it's very much possible that you have not been everywhere in every nook and cranny and seen everything after you have visited an area and moved on to the next one. I have to sit through four slow, annoying elevator rides just to get to Fantina, and then do the same slow elevator rides again if I want to leave. The fact that they aren't hard doesn't make it necessarily any better. You have already beaten the gym and solved all the puzzles, so why does the game ask you to redo the puzzle in its entirety again? The reward is much smaller and the task is identical to one you have already completed. In post game, you usually want to see their new teams exactly once, and the rest of the time is farming money and exp (and stickers). You have to do it in one go, which is a good thing imo. It also makes sense that the puzzles reset if you are defeated or if you leave the gym, because it means that you haven't beaten the challenge yet (cause, yes, gym puzzles are very much part of the challenge, that's their entire purpose). However, the reward for doing the puzzle is much greater during the story, since you win one of only 8 badges when defeating the gym leader. ![]() During the story, you have to defeat all gym leaders to beat the game, so going into the gym and making your way to the gym leader is inevitable. The difference between the story and the post-game battles is in the purpose and reward. After all, they do serve a purpose during the story, that being another obstacle you have to overcome to get to the gym leader. It's indeed a bit sad, that, unlike other remakes, BDSP does not overhaul a single of the puzzles, but there being puzzles in general is absolutely fine. There are probably millions of players playing the Sinnoh games for the first time. Obviously, the puzzles are in the game in general, since they are a part of experiencing the gyms for the first times, they are meant as tasks that players have to solve to get to the gym leader.
